Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee! Review — A New Twist

Preface

At the time of writing this review I have only played part of Pokémon Sun and maybe a month of Pokémon GO. The Legend of Zelda took most of my time as a kid so I missed the Pokémon franchise. That being said, if I describe aspects of the game and it is old news to you – please take the previous statements into consideration. Heavyshelf presents, Good Morning DnD!

Hello and happy Friday, to you all!

I’m sure you all are grinding through your workday, working for the weekend. And I’m sure a good portion of you are anxiously watching the hands on your clock tick down to quitting-time, so you can rush home to get ready for your Friday D&D.

But, once your session ends, you’re probably still hankering for more Dungeons & Dragons. Well, fear no longer! As Heavyshelf is proud to unveil Session 0 of our new weekly series Good Morning, D&D!

Join Erick Schwartz (that’s me!) as he tells his handcrafted story of mystery and suspense in what is titled Strangers in Alzurkania. Tune in to witness as team-members Shane, Sara, Parker and Moose explore and strive to survive in the foreign and untamed continent of Alzurkania.

Session 0 will be focused on discussing the campaign, rules, expectations, and addressing the audience. The team will be locking down their characters and setting up for the opening scene of this campaign. After all of the formalities have concluded, the adventure begins.

Good Morning, D&D! will debut on Saturday, March 9 at 9:00AM EST on Heavyshelf’s Twitch Channel using Fantasy Grounds as our platform. But, it isn’t expected for everybody to get up early to witness adventure! If you miss our stream, check out the re-runs on our YouTube channel! And if you’re a commuter and want to listen to our glorious voices tell the story of mystery and adventure, check out our audio-only version!

And if that wasn’t enough, premium members will have access to behind-the-scenes recordings, such as character workshops and session -1!

Assigning Weight to Death in Games, Pt. 4: Permadeath

If you’re joining us for the first time, check out Part 1: The Problem and Challenges. If you missed the last entry in the Assigning Weight to Death in Games series, take a look at Part 3: Classes of Assigning Weight.

In the second installment of this series, I mentioned permadeath. I also said that I would cover it in some greater length in a later article. Well, the time for that article has come. So, let’s remind ourselves (not that I think anyone likely needs to): what is permadeath? Well, everybody knows that it’s when death in a game works in such a way that, when the player dies, their character is dead permanently. They aren’t coming back unless the game restarts. Simple, right? Well, I would argue not quite so simple as it seems. Not by a long shot.
