Apex Legends: new patch hints at new vehicle and hero

Respawn’s Apex Legends has taken the world by storm, with the playerbase reaching 25 million at the latest count. It is unsurprising that with the popularity of the game that Respawn is still working hard to ensure that continual improvements are happening. The latest patch also hints at new features, according to data miners.

First, the confirmed

The latest update is now available for download on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Here are the patch notes:

  • Fixes for PS4 crash issues.
    • Addresses issues we saw with GPU hangs.
    • Fixed crash when pressing button early in load process.
  • Fixed issue where players would sometimes move slowly after revive.
  • Fixed issue with Mirage Ability causing crashes.
  • Fixed issue with Gibraltar Epic skins on Xbox One causing crashes

Newly leaked information

Hoverbike

According to data miners on Twitter, there may soon be a new vehicle, the Hoverbike. It was previously discovered, but new details have emerged. This suggests that despite some protests on Twitter about it, Respawn intends on going ahead with the new vehicle. All we know for now is that three players can fit in the bike.

RealApexLeaks also noted that the Hoverbike isn’t ready yet. The developers have apparently noted some of the files as incomplete, suggesting there is still more work to be done.

New Abilities

Two new abilities have also been leaked, named Jumpkit and Wall Run. While we don’t know much about it yet, it may be the beginnings of a new character. From launch, Respawn has indicated that there would be more characters added that weren’t initially available. It would be a pleasant surprise to see such a new game get an update like this so quickly.

New Map

There is also mention of a new map in the update files, which we can only guess is for the previously hinted at Survival Mode.

Although we’re excited to see the new features get implemented, there is always the risk with leaked information that the developers will opt to go in a different direction. For now, it looks promising that these features may be added soon.
